Contending

This painting is a depiction of tension among contenders, their peak best found when put to the test. To examine oneself not through reflection, but in direct comparison if not competition among peers. While all can strive for their goals in separate means, there are nonetheless a question of expedience and efficiency. Like runners at the line, resting on the tips of their toes, the circumstances may put even the most languid of dispositions into tense performance.
